Leading a Movement

When we are leading a movement, or change process, we lead from a place of passion and purpose. However, for it to gain traction and buy-in, movements need to be underpinned by deliberate acts of leadership which include the people, the plan and the process. If considering these from the outset, you have a movement, not a meltdown.

We will explore:

• People. Human reactions and how to support people to step into courage and commitment.

• Plan. How to deliberately plan for and communicate a movement that excites and incites ownership from all stakeholders.

• Process. Deliberate acts of leadership to step people through unfamiliar territory into a space of security, success and ownership.

There are many critical conversations we have as leaders. Each conversation is pivotal in the success of our working relationships and organisational outcomes. Underpinning this is the need to maintain relational rapport and mana-enhancing practices.

We will explore:

• Sense-making conversations

• Accountability conversations

• Deep questioning to explore bias and beliefs

• Systems for embedding coaching into school culture.

Leading Self-Review & Strategy

Self-review is not something that occurs once a year. It is a practice that needs to be embedded as a critical part of organisational incremental improvement. Strategic design ensures improvement is planned and developmental. Both self-review and strategy are pivotal leadership skills that often aren’t taught in leadership courses. If you wish to advance your career, these skills are imperative.

• Systems and processes for self review

• Self-review practices in your context

• Consultation processes

• Seeking best-fit solutions for strategic initiatives
